Konstantin Mikhailovich Simonov — poet, writer, playwright, journalist, war correspondent, editor, "general of literature", who managed to publish not only his works but also others'. M. Bulgakov's "Master and Margarita", translations of E. Hemingway, A. Miller, Y. O'Neill saw the light thanks to K. Simonov, who managed to get them through censorship hurdles. K. Simonov's poems "Do you remember, Alyosha, the roads of Smolenshchina…", "The major brought the boy on a gun carriage…", "Wait for me, and I will return…", which became the anthem for all girlfriends, wives, mothers of Soviet warriors, are known and loved by more than one generation of readers. The Great Patriotic War remained his main theme for many years. Simonov was one of the first to go to the front as a correspondent, and then as a participant in military events, reaching Berlin. Everything he saw, he described both in prose and in poetry. His lines about love and loyalty, courage and cowardice, friendship and betrayal, hope and faith were memorized by soldiers, rewritten, and passed from one to another. The poet penetrated deeply into the human soul and showed it from within. His poems helped to survive then and continue to help survive now.
