What are Indian mandalas? There are as many answers to this seemingly simple question as there are people who have once tried to take wooden sticks in their hands, weave them with colorful yarn, and create their own mandala.
The art of making mandalas is closely intertwined, like threads in a pattern, with ancient folk traditions and beliefs. Each person chooses what their mandala will contain. For some people, it is primarily a beautiful handmade item that can harmoniously complement the interior and bring fashionable ethnic motifs into it. For others – a tool for achieving inner harmony, visualizing cherished desires, and "weaving" away negative emotions. Some find that mandalas help realize their creative potential, while others find that they "suggest" their further life path.
Anna Fenina's book discusses both the technical aspects of weaving mandalas and the hidden side of this art, the meaning imbued in it by people who lived many years before us. Will you take the sacred component of weaving seriously or will you view this creativity merely as an unusual and fascinating hobby, let it bring you joy of knowledge and creation?
