USA, Virginia, a couple of centuries ago. Sarah, a young black slave, is shackled and displayed at an auction alongside other captives. The girl trembles with fear, as the new owner may turn out to be a cruel rapist. Finally, Sarah is bought: from now on her place of residence is Jubilee Plantation, where from dawn till dusk she must care for the little heir, clean the house, cook food, and perform other heavy work. Irishman Henry O'Toole moved to America to escape the famine that claimed his entire family. Now the young man travels the roads of Virginia, earning a living through blacksmithing. The moment Henry's gaze fell upon Sarah's delicate face, his world turned upside down. From then on, he cannot imagine a future without his beloved. However, according to the laws of Virginia, marrying a white man to a slave can lead not only to imprisonment but also to losing one's head...
