The idea for the science fiction novella The Lost World came to Arthur Conan Doyle after meeting with his friends — Percy Fawcett and Edwin Lancaster, who told the writer about their expedition to the mountains located on the border of Bolivia and Brazil. Arthur Conan Doyle was so impressed by what he heard that he immediately began writing the novella. Initially, it was published in installments in a magazine, and later a book was released. The novella The Lost World was a huge success: it was translated into many languages and was adapted for screen more than once. The Lost World is an incredible story about an expedition into the depths of the primeval jungles of the Amazon, where prehistoric animals live. The main characters must not only gather evidence of their existence but also fight for their lives every day… For middle school age.
