If Garrett lived in our world, rather than in the world of magic, he would compete on equal footing with the renowned heroes of the «black detective», private detectives Nero Wolfe, Mike Hammer, Philip Marlowe, and Sam Spade. However, in Tanfer, inhabited not only by people but also by elves, pixies, gnomes, trolls, and other fantasy creatures, he is unmatched. In the novel «Whispering Nickel Idols», looking to find out why the king of the criminal world fell into a coma, Garrett will engage in a struggle with the daughter of the «king» — and discover that not only this «princess» wishes him dead. In the novel «Cruel Zinc Melodies», Garrett, already ready to give up private investigation, is forced to deal with paranormal sabotage. The good intention of a wealthy brewer to open a new theater in Tanfer turns into a nightmare: giant-sized beetles and a swarm of ghosts have appeared in the building under construction. And if only they threatened the peace and lives of the townspeople! In the seedy district, teenage gangs are operating, and the offspring of families residing in the most respectable area turn out to be far from innocent in their intellectual and magical amusements.
