Paul Féval – a French writer, the author of popular adventure novels – enjoyed colossal fame during his lifetime, comparable to that of Dumas and Balzac. His "cloak and dagger" novels, thanks to the extraordinary plots and the inexhaustible imagination of the author, underwent dozens of reprints and were translated into many languages of the world. This volume includes Féval's most famous novel about the adventures of the invincible Chevalier de Lagardère, "The Hunchback, or The Little Parisian". The reader will find here all the necessary features of an exciting adventure novel: the dynamism of the narrative, mysterious transformations, brutal duels, court intrigues, and, of course, romantic twists and turns. The text of the novel is accompanied by numerous illustrations from original French editions of the 19th century.
