«Kushner is one of the best lyrical poets of the 20th century, and his name is destined to stand among the names dear to the heart of anyone whose native language is Russian,» wrote Joseph Brodsky. «The poet of life in all its manifestations,» in his work he follows the traditions of the «harmonic school» and Acmeism with its «beautiful clarity,» attention to details, shades, and nuances, from which the moving fullness of human life is formed, its fragile, fleeting beauty. Alexander Kushner's poems have been recognized with many literary awards, translated into other languages, and set to music. The book presents selected works written at different times in his life and carefully chosen by the author for this edition.
