Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets

The true story that inspired the series "Homicide: Life on the Street," by David Simon — the Edgar Award-winning creator of the cult classic "The Wire," "We Own This City," "Corner" and "The Deuce" starring James Franco.
Simon was the first reporter to gain unrestricted access to the homicide unit, and this gripping book recounts an entire year spent on the brutal streets of an American city.
The setting is Baltimore, where someone is constantly shot, stabbed, or beaten to death. At the center of this crime hurricane is the homicide unit, a small brotherhood of tough men fighting for justice in this harsh world. Among them are: Donald Worden, an experienced investigator; Harry Edgerton, a Black detective from a predominantly white division; and Tom Pellegrini, a rookie who takes on the toughest case of the year — the brutal rape and murder of an eleven-year-old girl.
