Behind the Birch Books

Tireless seekers are once again setting out on a journey. The hope of finding ancient birch bark books from the legendary library of the Rostov prince Konstantin the Wise lures them on the road. On the birch bark pages of the birch books, poems and tales created even before the Tatar-Mongol invasion were scratched with a sharp grouse bone — priceless treasures of ancient Russian literature... Writer Sergey Mikhailovich Golitsyn invites adult and young readers on an exciting journey through the lands of Vladimir, Suzdal, and Rostov. To see the beauty of the native land and ancient Russian cities, and to follow the amusing adventures of adults and children, the writer was helped by the wonderful graphic artist Stanislav Zabaluev.
