Ten years ago, the planets of the Solar System were plunged into chaos by a war between the higher and lower castes of the Society, divided by colors. But the rift in the Society runs much deeper than caste contradictions. Darrow, a former miner, now the lord-emperor of the republic, faces betrayal at the moment he is honored as a victor. The Senate brings serious charges against him, and powerful allies turn their backs. The laurel-crowned commander awaits arrest, and possibly something worse. Has he been betrayed by someone close or a friend? Who is trying to manipulate him? Darrow values his freedom too highly, and he resorts to a highly risky act that could entail many sacrifices. But in war, all means are fair. For the first time in Russian!
