Tsar-Fish

Viktor Petrovich Astafyev is an outstanding Russian writer of the 20th century. With extraordinary candor, firmness of principles and convictions embodied in the pages of his works, he won the love of millions of readers.

The narrative in the stories "Tsar-Fish" is a remarkable, deeply philosophical reflection on the inseparability of existence with nature, the responsibility of people for its senseless destruction, and the natural and social laws that do not allow him to cross that "line beyond which man ends, and from distant, filled with cave-like horror times, it exhibits and stares, unblinking, the low-browed, tusked mug of a primitive savage".
