Best-selling author and entrepreneur Chris Guillebeau is convinced that our financial destiny is in our hands. His new book is written in the best traditions of financial classics like 'The Richest Man in Babylon' and is based on an exciting moral story, the essence of which boils down to a simple truth: if you're willing to work hard and step out of your comfort zone, fortune will never bypass you.
Jake Aarons, the main character, is going through a rough patch in his life. He suddenly faces a host of problems: the landlords of his rental apartment ask him to vacate within 30 days, the bank demands urgent repayment of a $50,000 student loan, and the internet agency where Jake works is preparing for reorganization and mass layoffs. On top of everything, his relationship with Maya is also starting to crack.
In search of answers, Jake reluctantly accepts a colleague's invitation to join a group whose members are trying to create a source of substantial additional income. The key requirement is to spend no more than $500 before turning a profit. Jake looks for ways to earn a thousand dollars over one weekend, and in the end, learns how to develop skills for effective management of his finances – and life.
