Starship Troopers

Earth is attacked by a terrifying enemy - a civilization of intelligent insects. Understanding them or negotiating with them is impossible - all that remains is to destroy them before they destroy you. And only if you have endured this pain, these deprivations - do you earn the right to decide for others. «I tried to identify... some fundamental basis of human behavior, and I concluded that the only basis that does not require unproven assumptions is the question of survival» - this is how Heinlein defined the main theme of «Starship Troopers» in a letter to another classic author, Theodore Sturgeon. Meanwhile, Paul Verhoeven in his sensational adaptation of the classic novel satirically sharpened Heinlein's «militaristic utopia», which, upon closer inspection, is not too distinguishable from a dystopia. The novel rightfully received the most prestigious of the «science fiction» awards - the «Hugo».
