«The Count of Monte Cristo», one of the most popular novels by Alexandre Dumas, has overwhelming success among readers. The author drew its plot from the archives of the Paris police. The true life of shoemaker François Picaud, who became the prototype of Edmond Dantès, transformed under the pen of a true artist into an exciting book about the martyr of the Château d'If and the Parisian angel of vengeance. A thick novel that doesn't let go until the last page, «The Count of Monte Cristo» is a classic that truly deserves to be reread. A fantastic story of the life of Marseille sailor Edmond Dantès, who was destined for heavy trials. Unjust imprisonment in a terrible prison, treasures, revenge and losses, restoration of justice, courage and dignity - in one of Dumas's most famous books, repeatedly adapted by filmmakers from different countries. A poignant work about what drives people throughout the ages - about love and vengeance.
