Which girl doesn’t dream of being beautiful? Unusually beautiful, so that everyone turns around and admires her! Probably, everyone dreams.
Vera didn’t dream. She dreamed of being… ordinary. Unnoticed in a crowd of equally ordinary people. The kind that don’t get a second glance. Because she was born so unattractive that her mother cried, and the doctors turned away. And she grew up, getting used to the gazes of others—surprised, disapproving, pitying, disgusted. It's hard to live at the center of such attention.
And when she suddenly became an incredible beauty—nothing changed. Again, she found herself at the center of attention, and although the gazes were now admiring, stunned, greedy, envious, life turned out to be not any easier. Especially since it wasn’t just about the gazes… Many saw her as prey. So she had to learn to defend herself.
